The Fem work desk is designed to meet the demands of modern teleworking, even in compact spaces. The desk has been created in collaboration with interior design company Fyra, that specializes in office space design. The work desk is created based on their personal insights into working from home. In the absence of a better option, they have had to set up workstations on a drying rack or in high chairs and even in a home sauna. The Fem work desk is effortless to assemble without tools or screws, and is just as quick and easy to disassemble and store when you no longer need it.
From an ergonomic point of view, it is important to change your posture regularly during the day. That is why the Fem desk is designed for both sitting an standing positions. The upper shelf of the desk is where you can place your laptop to create an ergonomic standing desk – and the upper shelf can be used as a back panel of the desk while sitting. Thanks to its simple and adjustable design, the Fem desk can additionally be used as a minimalist shelving unit in a bedroom, living room or children's room or as a practical side table in the kitchen.
"Whilst self-isolating for weeks in a row, we are all facing the problems of working from home. It’s clear there’s the need for a reasonably priced and height-adjustable home office, that can work seamlessly in a residential environment. We started by creating a multifunctional desk that’s easy to adjust, functions perfectly for working both sitting and standing, looks beautiful and has a purpose – even if not used as a work desk."
Fyra is a Helsinki-based interior design office established in 2010, specialising in work environments and hotel and restaurant spaces. The agency is also experienced in concept design as well as in various cross-sectional projects, having created e.g. the Box by Posti self service concept for Finland’s leading postal and logistics company Posti and exhibition spaces for Helsinki Design Week. In 2020, the Finnish Association of Interior Architects, SIO, awarded Fyra as Interior Architecture Agency of the Year.
